PeaceMeal Project: Call for Submissions

Calling all writers, photographers, poets, and illustrators!  Calling all foodies and peace lovers! Calling everyone who eats and who seeks peace!  Join us in a stone soup book development project, which will result in a potluck feast of ideas proposing to illuminate the idea of building a culture of peace through food.

PeaceMeal is a collaborative project exploring the connections between peace and food. One of the manifestations of this project is a creative compilation of writing related to these topics, tentatively entitled “PeaceMeal: Building a Culture of Peace through Food.”  We invite you to submit articles, research pieces, essays, stories, personal reflections, poems, photos, drawings, recipes, and any other creative endeavors that explore this intersection. Contributions will initially be posted to our blog, and will be considered for publication in the PeaceMeal book.

We hope to have a broad representation of scale examining the intersection of peace and food/agriculture, including:

  • personal/individual
  • interpersonal/community
  • regional
  • national
  • international
  • global

Various formats are invited, such as:

  • Academic articles
  • Memoirs and anecdotes
  • Recipes
  • Stories
  • Case studies
  • Poetry
  • Songs
  • Images

All submissions should directly or indirectly address one or more of the following questions:

  • How can peace be cultivated through food?
  • What examples of peace through food exist in the world? in your country? community? life?
  • What is peaceful food? peaceful agriculture?

Join us in our food and peace smorgasbord!
